Your data stays on your device
ZimRoadWise is a self-study app. There is no account and no sign-up. Your study history lives on your device; only anonymous counts are shared to improve the lessons.
There is no account
You never sign up, sign in, or give an email address. The app opens straight into studying, so there is no profile of you anywhere — not on this device, and not with us.
Because there is no account, your progress does not follow you between devices or browsers. Two phones mean two separate sets of progress.
Where it is kept
Everything is written to your browser's own storage on this device. If you clear your browser data, use private browsing, or switch browsers, that study history is gone — there is no server copy for us to restore.
Turning on offline mode also stores copies of the pages you visit so they open without internet. You can clear those at any time in Settings.
What is stored on your device
Study progress. Lessons you completed or revised, topic mastery counters, and your last opened lesson.
Quiz and test results. Practice attempts, mock test results, oral drill scores, per-question correct/attempt counts and retries.
Things you saved. Bookmarked lessons and road signs, saved questions, flagged questions and your notes.
An unfinished quiz. If you leave a quiz part-way, the questions and your answers are kept so you can resume. These expire after 7 days.
Recently viewed. A short, capped list of lessons and signs you opened, so you can jump back to them.
Your preferences. Theme, interface language, large text, reduced motion, offline mode, and your daily reminder time.
Small app flags. Whether you finished the intro screens, and the date the last daily reminder was shown, so it is not repeated.
Anonymous study statistics
So we can see which lessons and questions learners struggle with, this device sends counts under a random id created on your phone or computer: lessons started and completed, how many questions you answered correctly, and mock test scores. It also records the kind of device (phone, tablet, computer), the browser, and an approximate country or city.
There is no account behind that id, it is never linked to a name, email or phone number, and your IP address is only ever stored as an irreversible hash. You can delete the whole record at any time from Settings → Your data.
What the app does not collect
- Your name, email address, phone number or ID number
- A password or any login credentials — there is no account to create
- Your location or GPS position
- Your contacts, photos, camera or microphone
- Payment or card details — nothing in the app is paid for
- Advertising or cross-site tracking identifiers
- Your raw IP address — only an irreversible one-way hash is kept
Two things worth knowing
Fonts. The app loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser makes a request to Google when a page loads. No study data is included in that request.
Reminders. If you switch on the daily study reminder, it is scheduled by your own browser on this device. No reminder is sent from a server and no push service is used.
The app is hosted like any website, so the host sees ordinary web requests for pages and images. That is separate from your study data, which never leaves this device.
You stay in control
Download a backup file at any time, restore it on another device, or erase everything permanently. Erasing is immediate and cannot be undone, so download a backup first if you might want your progress back.
