- 1Check the scene is safe. Tap the person and shout — no response?
- 2Call 994 (ambulance) or 995 (police). Send someone for an AED if available.
- 3Lay them flat on their back on a firm surface.
- 4Place the heel of one hand on the centre of the chest, other hand on top, fingers interlocked.
- 5Push HARD and FAST — 5–6 cm deep, 100–120 pushes per minute. Let the chest recoil fully.
- 6Continue until help arrives or the person starts breathing. Swap with another person every 2 minutes to avoid fatigue.
Tips
- Use the rhythm of 'Stayin' Alive' — that's about 110 bpm.
- If untrained, hands-only CPR is fine — don't stop.
